Twin.

Oh Terminator, what have you done?

Yesterday I found out you treat women like house pets; today I hear that you kinda had a crush on Hitler. And those Maplethorpe, full-frontal photos! Who knew a man could compete with a race horse?

The "Liberal Media" would have me believe you are a womanizing Nazi who likes to hang pony in public while choking the environment with your, uh, Hummer.

What part of campaign strategy don't you get? How you could not have seen all of this coming?

On the very first day of your very first campaign you should have simply come clean. Opened the closet and taken care of the skeletons right then and there. By this time, most voters and most media would have forgotten about it all by now.

Remember Kobe? You know, that professional basketball player who is accused of rape. See you don't remember him because he was yesterday's story — old news. He doesn't even rank in Yahoo News Most Popular anymore.

Kobe was rescued by world events beyond his control, but you my man, you could have prevented this.

Now you're taking hits left and right, only this time it's coming from intelligent strategist who have been waiting for just the right moment to pounce.

I was thinking this weekend was going to be boring but now I wait in anticipation of what your opponents (fellow candidates and otherwise) are going to hit you with next.

You have to admit, the T-1000 was never this good.

It is a strange, strange, strange, strange world we live in.

I'm liking your choice of link bolding, "womanizing Nazi" has a nice ring to it — maybe Arianna can start mixing that into her rhetoric over the next few days.

I really hope not, I'm sick of her spastic rhetoric.

I think the guy's a movie star, and you can't really blame him for acting like a movie star over the years.

Regardless of the accusations --which we all know are targeted not to get him elected and *not* to making him pay for what he did, even though I have already absolved him-- the guy is the best CA got for a governor. Darm, I wish so much I would live in CA, I would be voting for him, that's for sure.

David, a sincere question: If you support what Arnold stands for why wouldn't you support someone like McClintock, who seems to embody a similar array of standard GOP attitudes without the increasingly clear evidence of being a chronic, serial, sexually assaulting, groping, grabbing, humiliating, misogynistic pig? You really think it's okay for someone who treats women this way to be governor? You really think *all* these accusations are false? Personally, I hope the big lug wins, as I think the odds of him once in office triggering an incredibly embarrassing, criminally-charged, CourtTV spectacle is about 50-50. Anything that's embarrassing for power-hungry maniac hypocrits and entertaining at the same time scores high with me.

PS: Classic transcript of Arnold talking to Tom Brokaw yesterday...

Brokaw: " .... What you've been accused of is actually criminal in some cases."
Schwartzenegger: "I have never grabbed anyone. Anyone's breasts or anyone's buttocks. That's not me."
Brokaw: "So you categorically deny these accusations?"
Schwartzenegger: "Well, not all of them."

Davis, thanks for staying put.

I think Arnold is just as good as any of the other clowns traveling on the Ship of Fools. Democrats especially have no ground on this issue when their very own President was impeached for reasons of sexual misconduct. Arnold is no better or worse than any other politician because of the allegations, but it does make him an easy target and one I just couldn't resist.

That said, at this point I don't see any victory for Californians in this election. Neither the standing governor or any of the recall candidates is a great leader. They all have an inventory of good experience in many areas that make a good leader but surely we're screwed six ways to Sunday no matter Tuesday's outcome.

Maybe it's time we opted to become a territory of New Mexico, where they seem to know how to balance a budget.

For once I find myself (partially) agreeing with Tom Dolan. 8^0

McClintock is the strongest candidate in this race and Arnold has basically stolen his chance for the limelight.

This is a bit telling though, especially since we're talking California here (Medved calls Hollyweird). Is it possible that to Californians, they care more about status and less about substance?

[Greg, still waiting for that "Preview" option buddy. *grin*]

More from the NY Times on how a Schwartzenegger win would 'complicate things for Bush' in 2004. And, "... a number of Republicans said that a year from now, should Mr. Schwarzenegger win, the White House might find itself wishing that it still had Mr. Davis in office." Loving this now.

boysen — 10:45 on 10.07.03#

I think the jury is still out on what an Arnold victory would mean in 2004. Not saying that blogs hold all the answers but you know (without reading) which tilt the Times will take.

The public beta of Central had a mixed review today. But people were talking about it everywhere. (see links on Mike's blog).

We can't add new apps yet, and there is no information on how to go about building one. After all the hype and waiting around, this is definitely an anticlimax. Not because it isn't a good product - I'm sure it's wonderful, but because it is us, the developers, who will make it interesting. When all you have to look at cinema listings and weather reports (from another country), its hard to get too excited.
