My frustrations with Google never cease.
A while ago I was denied participation in their text based advertising program that has become a common element of personal sites everywhere. Somehow Airbag (this site) was way more personal than other sites that display pictures of cats or posts about breakfast cereal. I merely wanted to make a mockery of the whole shebang and perhaps the could see right through my honest looking application.
Whatever, I can deal with that.
Now they have removed my site from search results for the word 'Airbag'. Up until now this site was the number one search result; ahead of the National Safety Council Air Bag & Seat Belt Safety Campaign, way ahead of Airbag - Supplementa Restraint Systems or even Airbag Craftworks (which make some pretty cool bags).
This independent periodical is no where to be found in Google's search results for the word Airbag - despite that it held at number one for more than a year.
You can't give me crap about this site having nothing to do with vehicle safety because the number three slot is currently held by a German handbag company. And I have written extensively about safety issues with buying used airbags.
What's the point in creating a personal site if people can't find it by searching under the title?
I can't believe that Google, the parent company of Blogger, would go to efforts to exclude personal sites, much less a blog from their results yet this appears to be the case.
Stupid, stupid search engine who's logo, by the way, sucks. Bigtime.

My search software, Copernic, still lists you as number one because of its acumulated search of MSN Web Search, HotBot, and AltaVista.
Copernic beats google any day of the week.

Wait a minute...but why? Why exactly did Google do that to your site? I'm not quite following, sorry...
I can only assume because this site title has nothing to do with business. If you search for Airbag on Google, Yahoo, or AOL you will either get airbag (vehicle safety) companies, or businesses (and a few garage bands) with the name airbag.
Recently I lost #1 listing for Elisha Marshall - my name. I'm now on the third page with 2 sites only mentioning my name ahead of my actual site. I held the #1 spot for almost two years. I don't know why I've been demoted but I am curious. In the mean time, I'm doing everything possible to go back to #1. So, I feel the pain. But I have to ask: Do either of us really deserve the #1 listing? I'm selfish and think I do but I could be wrong.
You've heard of a Googlewhack? Time to coin a new term: Google******.
[ED] While I appreciate the sentiment and choice of vocabulary, I have to keep things as PG as possible around here.
Elisha, I was under the impression that search ranking depended on the amount of traffic going to a site. Maybe that has changed.
And dave, yeah, I think it's time for a new term. Does anyone have a friend at Wired Magazine? Maybe we could get the term in the next issue.
Googlestiffed.
Strangeley, your site come up first on Google, for me:

I changed the meta data yesterday. Does it really work that fast?
Sorry, I have a potty mouth.
I've had Google index posts that were only 4 or 5 hours old, so I guess it does work pretty fast.
Your site lists first for me as well. Maybe they heard you yelling?
