Luckily there is good open source programs that gets ported to Windows. Like Open Office, Mozilla, MAME and Snes9X.
But yeah most of the time companies take share ware quality products and pass it off as worth actual money... at Wal-Mart
Off topic, but recall Davis?!! I hate Gray Doofus like rectal itching, but up here in Sac*Town we recognize this for what it is: a Sour Grapes Power Grab. And Shwartznegger for Governor? Give me a break. This state already had a bad actor as governor. (And I don't mean Pete Wilson.)
Oh come now. Windows users have TopStyle, whose interface I prefer to BBEdit or most other Mac HTML editors. Then there's IrfanView(versatile image viewer), Winamp, BrowserMaster, Editplus (my favorite everything-and-the-kitchen-sink text editor since 1998), WS-FTP, Opera, Cerberus FTP Server, ZoneAlarm firewall, and many others that I can't recall.
Oh wait, you said cool shareware apps, not practical-use-them-every-day-because-they-work-so-well-without crashing-(ever) apps. Sorry.
Perhaps the more important question is why do Mac HTML editors have such crummy interfaces ;-P
I thought Windows users swore by Homesite as the Cadillac of HTML editors. I want a cool RSS reader, IM chat client, and a Windows version of Watson.
Beerzie never misses a chance to reveal his left leanings by bashing all things Republican. Don't look now but your Membership Card is showing...
I like Homesite, except when it steals all my system resources. 8^)
I use Trillian for my IM -- it combines all your IM handles into one application (MSMessenger, AOL, ICQ, Yahoo!, IRC). Now if that isn't cool, I don't know what is!
I wish I could edit my last post, I would put a target on that href and make sure the url was right :) Maybe Greg can fix it so it isn't so annoying.
Sorry about that.
I like the concept of Trillian MacOS X has two really good multi service IM apps: Fire and Proteus. But Trilian is downright ugly. Like most Windows apps, it all about function and rarely form. And for that, Windows software suffers greatly.
