On a whim I bought a Playstation 3. The game store I happened by had just received a small shipment and already they were down to one last unit. Without thinking I bought it knowing that it would be easy to unload just like I did with the Xbox 360 during its debut and drought. Being a capitalist I have no qualms about buying low (or at MSRP) and selling high.
There is a small part of me, the game playing part, that is staring at the box, trying to will the box's seal to split open so that the mint-in-box value is gone thus forcing me to keep the unit and play and play and play. The World of Warcraft account was deleted, finally, so why the hell not.
Also, you should know the weather here in the O.C. hasn't been too nice latelycold and windyit's as if someone clicked on the jet stream and rotated it ninety-degrees clockwise. I hope it rights itself soon because as much as I love the Pacific Northwest their weather sucks, at least by Southern California standards.

Nothing perplexing at all here. Just pack that sucker up and mail it to me, problem solved! lol!
Hmmm, a PS3 for pMachine stock might not be a bad deal...
No more WoW? Oh noes! I've taken several breaks from my night elf rogue, but I can't seem to completely kick the habit. Hell, I had an itch to play Diablo 2 about two months back, but that didn't last long. Any tips for kicking the WoW habit? One thing that always gets me is calculating my played time against my hourly freelance rate; suddenly $1,000 for a character on ebay is stupid cheap.
There's something about console gaming that just sucks now. But I have faith and I'm hoping the Wii will satisfy my gaming urges once you can get one without standing in line at Target before the sun comes up.
Oh, for Thor's sake: just open the box. Play. Have fun. Smile. You know you want to, or you wouldn't have posted. Do it now. Open. The. Box.
Have you done it yet? Get moving ...
Oh, muffin. What happened, did the thermometer drop down to seventy-five?
World's smallest violin. For you. Playing. Now.
here in the O.C.
C'mon Greg, referring to O.C. as "the O.C." is strictly for out-of-towners. We may have to revoke your membership!
Greg,
I live just north of you in HB. It has been 68 - 61 degrees F. I have been wearing long sleeves and socks. It is working. No jacket required, unless one wants one for fashion purposes. We will survive, think of the children...
;o)
"the weather" everywhere is concerning.
Don't give in Greg. Sell the sucker. Ken Kutaragi is Satan. Sony doesn't love you.
Oh, i know what the diablo 2 itch is like. every 9 months or so you just have to level something up to 30, then you're done and never want to see it again.
Also: Sell that thing and get a Wii (unless you already have one)
Sell it. There's a lack of any decent games for the system and most of their previously touted exclusive licenses are no longer exclusive.
I have played both the 360 and PS3 and both seem a little underwhelming - I'm waiting for the software writers to figure out how to write for them before I fork over 300+ bucks.
Make that two tiny violins. A couple more and we'll have a pity quartet concert just for you.
This is so cool. I wanna get into the capitalist wagon as well. I wish I'd done it with my Wii and Zelda (which is TEH best game EVUHR).
Condolences to my family.
> What happened, did the thermometer drop down to seventy-five?
When my car chimes to tell me that it's near freezing then it's pretty damn way to cold. If I could I would go buy some carbon emissions credits from the World Bank and use them down here so I could trigger me some global warming.
> I have been wearing long sleeves and socks. It is working. No jacket required, unless one wants one for fashion purposes.
Ah, see up here in the "hill country" I've been using scarves and jackets frequently.
> C'mon Greg, referring to O.C. as "the O.C." is strictly for out-of-towners. We may have to revoke your membership!
I know, I know but remember that people outside our lands only know it as "O.C." and it's hard to pronounce our colonies formal name in English without causing bodily harm.
> Ken Kutaragi is Satan. Sony doesn't love you.
Does that make Steven Balmer his Brokeback Mountain? Microsoft tried to love me once but I told it that I just wanted to be friends. Now anytime I get something from them it comes with a bill.
> I have played both the 360 and PS3 and both seem a little underwhelming...
What the?! From your statement I'm going to assume that you haven't curb-stomped a Locusts head into the pavement, yet.
Let us know what she's like once you open her up. BTW, is that chess notation?!
Speaking of cold, I lived in North-ish Canada for a few years, and in the coldest part of winter it would be so cold that your car tires would freeze with the flat spot where they met the ground. So you'd start driving and your car would go chunk-a-chunk-a-chunk until the flat spot in your tires worked itself out. That would happen around minus 40 to 45 Celcius, which is roughly the same in Fahrenheit (minus 40 to 49).
Greg, sorry the weather has been "cold" but you might as well buy some warm stuff for this winter as El Nino looks to be giving you guys a colder-than-normal season.
On the other hand, we on the East Coast are enjoying the effects of said El Nino. It's about 10 degrees warmer than normal and has been for a while. I'm walking around in a bathing suit!
BTW, this SoCal-bred boy once spent a winter in Minneapolis. My record cold is -90 windchill.
Meh, up here in the San Fernando Valley it's still a nice 75 :)
suck it, haters.
> My record cold is -90 windchill.
Ok that beats mine: -60 windchill in a village on the west coast of Alaska in February.
What, by chance, made you choose to delete the WoW account?
Aaahhh..the weather...no matter what, we can always talk about the weather...the oldest topic known to man. I'm being an asshat, I know :-) But it's hard not to...It's such a nice weather on this server...don't you think ? (Weather might have changed from the time that I punched the post button, to the time that you read this...If not satisfied call Al Gore about the climate or David Weinberger about time slicing).
was just up in the bitter cold o.c. from San Diego for x-mas... me girlfriend flew up to Frisco to be with her parentals... having a bit o' time on my hands and my pop's monster sony (I have no t.v. just a 30" apple) I decided to "rent" an xbox from BestBuy. Returned it 3 days later (no questions asked on their generous 30 day open box warranty) after playing a few two many hours of gears of war (from blockbuster). Just a we bit of sage advice to you greg... sometimes all thats required to fight off an addiction is a weekend bender... saved me some cansh it did. Good luck on your decision... only in America I suppose.
If it ain't a Wii, it ain't for thee.
> What, by chance, made you choose to delete the WoW account?
I have it on good authority that Blizzard is being run by second and third stringers. Very few people from the original team are left and I from my experience the game has suffered. It's stupid that the game servers have to be taken off-line every week and the lack of true world events and Blizzard's policy of squashing guild ingenuity means that I'm paying $15 a month to play another version of Diablo II. This is where my friends say something about the expansion but I've been playing the beta for more than a month and it's just more of the same.
Do it, Greg. Do it for all those poor souls who haven't had the opportunity to get a PS3 in their possession, or at the very least test it out in the store because that little curly-haired kid is hogging it every time you're there.
Sell it? Please. You'd be lucky to break even.
Yeah, I'm with Celia. I've been seeing PS3's in stock the last couple days at a few places. Way sooner than I would've expected, considering the initial production shortage and days-long lines at launch. I guess everybody did eBay theirs after all.
It seems like many folks who bought a PS3 with dollar signs in their eyes have made the trek back to the original retailer with receipt in hand. The market is dry for the PS3. Break it open and consume many hours of game play enjoyment.
> Break it open and consume many hours of game play enjoyment.
That's what I had planned on until I discovered that Sony has lost many of it's exclusive titles to Microsoft (there are other quirks like having to turn on the unit first before the wireless controllers sync). I'll wait until the next installment of Final Fantasy and hope that Sony will somehow find a way to slim down the case a tad. Until then I'll be on Xbox Live, bring your curb stomp.
Dunno if anything has happened since this post, but I'm surprised you put money down for the PS3. The price tag in question is just too steep for my game-loving blood. Plus Gears of War is a pretty great example as to just how much fun Xbox360 can be. Good luck selling it on eBay! :)
Return the PS3, get a Wii. The girlfriend and I exchanged consoles for christmas... I gave her the Wii (and yes you know I bought Zelda for myself!) and she gave me the XBox 360. Love 'em both, but the Wii just rocks for the pure gaming joy it provides.
I'm considering adding a PS3 to the collection of consoles and the arcade cabinet, but not until the next Ratchet & Clank comes out.
Friend me on XBox live: Glitch0620
Ratchet and clank rock the socks!
Sorry to hear, Greg.
I'm still on trial for WoW. Ends today.
I don't have time for that. Specially at 15/mo.
