What's the best under $5, under 0.7mm roller ball pen in the world?
I've had one too many Sanford Uni-ball Micro 0.2mm Rollers explode all over my fingers and hand for no apparent reason other than poor manufacture. I'm looking for the kind of pen you can sign peace treaties or trust your life with.
For example: say you were stranded in Neverland and had to write the sheriff for help because Michael was getting ready for a 'bed time story' at that momment what pen would you abolutely want by your side in order to craft and speedy but elegant looking plea for someone to come and bust a cap in the King of Pop?
Oh and it would be nice if it came in Cobalt Blue.

Under $5 might be an issue — how about a Mont Blanc? They make great Christmas presents — maybe you should ask the Rocket Scientist. I recommend the Meisterschtuk (or whatever it is) rollerball. Can't paste an URL because their site doesn't want to work in Safari (sigh).
I love my Pilot G-Tec-C4 which comes in the ever-precise width of 0.4, in lovely shades of black, blue and red. Sometimes it's hard to find in stores though, and it's quite possibly not available in the USA. If you're ever in Montreal, I'll find you one though!
umm, he already has a Mont Blanc. Maybe he should just actually invest the time to buy it an ink refill!
Tom, I have a Meisterstuck. It was given to me by my father-in-law, Jim on the day of my college graduation.
And? Problem? You're scared of losing it? That would be my issue — but by not using it you're depriving yourself of the joy of writing with a great pen. Dunno the right answer, but I just stole a great one from a bar in SF the other night. I'll see if I can figure out what it is.
I had a fancy-shmancy Waterman pen that broke after about a year (@*%!ing French crap!), so I can't recommend anything expensive.
I use one of those old-fashioned skinny PaperMate refillable pens; the one I have is about 8 years ond and has never let me down. I'd tell you the model number, but when you go to their website all they have are abominations like these.
Pardon my hinky linky. I meant this.
Well at least we know where the lead designer of the AMC Pacer ended up.
I am a dutch girl, know squat about what you're talking about here, but just wanted to say nice weblog! :-)
Lets talk about dutch girls then.
PS: UniBall Vision Elite all the way.
Hello group. My name is Gavin and I am a penoholic.
My current pen is a Rotring Quatro (black/red biro, 0.7 pencil, highlighter) although my favorite is a pen designed by Luigi Colani for Pelican. Unfortunatly the refills are no longer available so I had to re-engineer one of them to take a smaller Parker refill that... why do I feel like I am being stared at?
I was just going to say Papermate but I feel out of my league suddenly. Maybe it's the poor college student thing. At the rate I use pens, I can't afford anything more than Papermate.
Alright - cheap pen. The Pilot G-2 Gel. Comes in cobalt blue. My favorite color - good call. Can be found at any local ink and ballpoint merchant. Excellent for nice writing, and for quick clicking motion. Woot.
I endorse the Pilot line of pens. Mine are not precise size, merely "fine", but I'e had (and beat on) the Precise V7 Fine model since I swiped a box on my last day at the dot-com. That was three years ago, and I've whittled the orignal eight down to three, but they still write like a charm.
/me is staring at Gavin
Get the Zebra. It's inexpensive, works everytime, light but firm in the hand, and just looks cool.
The Mont Blanc is refilled and writing smoothly.
I've heard really good things about the Pilot G-2 get rollerball as well. Saw it on some "best of everything" site once and, since I'm partial to retractable rollerball pens, have been meaning to pick up a pack. $15 for 12 pens ... can't beat that if you're apt to lose them now and again.
I agree with the suggestion of the Uni-ball Vision Elite... I, too, had problems with exploding Uni-balls, but the Vision Elites have proven to be much more reliable... I even accidentally sent one through the washer and dryer and it still writes, a month after the fact... no explosion yet!
PS: COOL website design!
