I'm not sure many people noticed but HP unveiled their iPod tattoo feature today. In a few days they will start selling their printable tattoo paper that will let you temporarily customize the look of your iPod. It kind of reminds me of drawing on notebook covers in high school only you can wipe the slate clean when your tired of it.
Pretty cool me thinks.
So while I'm watching these two boobs on television yack at each other I thought I'd make the first ever Airbag iPod tattoo. Not only will it instantly make your iPod more hip, but early testing has shown that the Airbag tattoo will help you lower your cholesterol, attract persons of the opposite sex, and increase the volume of a stock iPod to eleven.
Keep in mind that I'm working off a sketchy template I found on HP's website. When I get my hands on the real thing I'll make tweaks where necessary.

"Attract persons of the opposite sex,"
I'm sold!
Now if only I could afford an iPod.
At some point in the past couple of weeks, I read somewhere that a person had gotten their hands on one of these tattoos, but it didn't come off the iPod as slickley as HP claimed. It left behind a ton of sticky residue and parts of the sticker.
So, if I had an iPod, I'd be a little cautious about putting one of those bad boys on my nice, shiny, device.
I find it strange that the tattoo has "wings", not unlike a feminine pad. I would imagine that would make the back of the iPod less than sexy (as you'd have strange wavy lines that didn't match up to anything)
Two boobs! Bwah-hah-hah! Two! Boobs! HAH! Ha...heh...uh...
Oh, sorry, this was about tatoos. Or something.
I just like boob jokes.
Thanks CM, we all needed that imagery ... still you do have a point, I don't know what purpose the shape serves. I can't imagine it's a useability thing.
Nice. I just jumped on the internet to get away from the candidates. Kerry just quoted the Bible... rich.
Looks cool Greg.
I see a whole new trend among school children swapping iPod tattoos in the playground. Bring it on! Planethalder.
Bah, only works for G4 iPod's. A sham. A sham I tell you!
Heh, funny I should find this here. This, more or less, is the project that has fallen into my lap. It seems as though I will be the one contracted to actually create the vast majority of these "tattoos." Although you should expect to see a fair amount of schwaged-up iPod skins plastered with sports teams, movies, and major label artists (Universal Music is the driving force behind this), there will also be custom skins featuring the works of Shepard Fairey, Barry McGee, KAWS, Kidrobot, and a few errant custom tattoos from me (time permitting, of course, these do have to be ready for the holiday season.)
Don't forget NASCAR, the '3' thing is huge.
Is there a reason you have your old URL (airbag.ca) on the skin? I thought that was taken away from you (I see that you've got an auto forward to airbagindustries.com -- is this just a temp reprieve?).
Okay... now I *have* to get an iPod.
Jeff, it was taken away but is now on loan from the very gracious Colin Viebrock of Easy DNS. I used it here only because it's shorter and fits nicely on the back 'wing'.
I have a 2nd generation iPod, the one with the touch scroll wheel and the button around the outside. I bet I could get one of these to fit my iPod easily with a little trimming. Trim a little off the top to the firewire port is still exposed... make the circle a little bigger... viola! What's old is new again!
As to the wings, my thought was maybe they make peeling off the sticker easier? They probably overlap and so the designs would overlap on the flaps?
Also, It would be cool to find a way to laminate a "tatoo" without screwing up the adhesive for a more durable cover.
I noticed the url as well. I would hate stickers on an ipod personally, they just screw up the perfection feeling that would be the whole reason for paying the extra bit for an ipod instead of a Dell Jukebox. Stickers ruin it in my opionion.
But I admit, your graphics are quite impressive except for the url, which I don't understand.
Forget these sticky things. If you want to surround your iPod in rich Corinthian leather, try one of these: http://www1.vajacases.com/home_en.html
It's a bit pricey. But ever time I look at my two-tone leather case I feel in the lap of luxury.
dishwasher safe?
