Grandslam.

Tell me you watched the Redsox trounce on the Yankees tonight. Do you realize that in the first time ever in Major League Baseball's one-hundred plus year history a team was able to come back from a three game deficit during a championship? It was nothing short of amazing — the Miracle in the Diamond.

Also exciting is Boston's first champinship victory in decades. I believe we were still paying tax to the throne of England when last the Sox were doing so good. Again, not being a really big sports guy I can't claim any one team over another but I do appreciate the historical significance of tonight events. So much so that I decided to hit Photoshop and try and contain my excitement.

I'm quite pleased with the result, I hope you are too.

And as requsted, here are a few desktops for those who want more than just a t-shirt: 1024x768, 1280x1024 and 1600x1280

Meanwhile, tonight's season premiere of West Wing sucked hard. I don't know (nor do I care) who the monkey's are NBC hired to write this show but it's gone down hill since Sorkin left. What is it about American television that they can't get past three year wall? I'm surprised the actors and actresses put up with such shoddy writing.

Awesome work! How about a desktop wallpaper of that? That would be awesome!

Greg — 11:50 on 10.20.04#

Josh, good idea. I'll make desktops if you help me spread the word on the t-shirts.

Very nice wallpapers and t-shirts. I was awake here around 3:30 AM in the Netherlands rooting for the Red Sox. It was the best when Damon hit that 4 runs homer....very great! Now let me order a t-shirt to show off in front of the yankees fans. Maybe they'll want to buy one too...

Very nice wallpaper, Greg. Now I can have a hint of wicked worn on my desktop, too! I haven't been into baseball for the last few years but have caught myself watching the last three games of the ALCS. I saw it as a bad sign when Damon tried to run home from second base in the first, but that DEFINITELY all changed when he hit that grand slam in the second.

You know, Greg, seasons 1 and 2 of Buffy The Vampire Slayer, and to a lesser extent season 3, was pretty mediocre, whereas season 4 was great, season 5 too, season 6 the best, and season 7 was also quite good.

And the greatest American show of all time didn't really hit its stride until the third or fourth season.

Nice site and cool idea with the t-shirts and wallpapers. As for the game, seeing the Yankees collapse was great. I wish they had a camera in Steinbrenner's office. Hopefully the Red Sox can avoid the letdown of playing only Houston or St. Louis in the Series and truly end the curse.

The Red Sox need to be very careful not to be let down in the World Series. This was an amazing job, but they need to worry about the Series. This is merely an AL Championship.

Some interesting things can always be done with numbers, of course. Easily manipulated to make you go "wow, that's eeeeeerie!!"

The last time the Sox won the World Series was 1918. The last time they were in it (and one single out - some would say inches of Bill Buckner's glove - from winning it) was in 1986. So '18 and '86 are important years.

It's also been 18 years since 1986 and 86 years since 1918. Could this be the year?

Nope. The Cards will beat them in 5. (Assuming the Cards get past the Astros, which I think they will.)

I was also left wanting with the West Wing premiere last night. There was all this build-up, and then... .blah.

Greg — 08:10 on 10.21.04#

Thomas are you suggesting that I'm watching the wrong show? Or that somehow by divine intervention West Wing will get better?

I should have just watched Lost.

JosiahQ — 08:11 on 10.21.04#

Desktops are great. Many thanks.

And you're right, geez, West Wing sucks without Sorkin.

monkeyinabox — 08:23 on 10.21.04#

How'd Cafe Press let you use the Johnny Damon picture? Seems like they wouldn't let that fly.

Greg — 08:53 on 10.21.04#

I figured since Jib Jab can use Sadam, Kim Il, and the Ayatollah Khomeini on a t-shirt then why not a rendition of Johnny Damon?

MLB Mole — 09:08 on 10.21.04#

Ditto Monkey - a photo of Johnny Damon is a Bosox uniform is most definitely the property of MLB and the Boston Red Sox. And trying to capitalize on that isn't the smartest idea. I suppose I'd be less cynical if the prices on the shirts didn't include a profit, but they of course, do.

Beautiful, great remembrance.

Thanks Greg

Kevin — 11:04 on 10.21.04#

If MLB won't let you use a photo of Johnny Damon, use Matt Damon instead. Afterall, he's from Boston

Greg — 11:10 on 10.21.04#

That's a good idea. I could also use this.

Tomas Jogin — 01:02 on 10.21.04#

Greg: I'm saying that once in a blue moon, American television shows not only makes it past the third year, but does so elgantly, and continues to excel thereafter.

But let's not kid ourselves, the main reason for mentioning Buffy The Vampire Slayer is because I've taken upon myself the task to evangelize Joss Whedon's work of genious.

Josh Bryant — 02:41 on 10.21.04#

Greg, Thank you so much for the wallpaper. Using it right now!

As for the West Wing, I used to be a huge junkie around the 1st, 2nd and part of the third year. I then kinda lost touch with it, just because I was surprised that the same president could be president for so many terms and have so much drama. It just got taxing, but I followed it religiously. I just happened to have it on the right channel last night, and I didn't think it was that bad. I mean, sure, the writing sucked, but it was interesting to see it again.

I went ahead and sent the Sports Guy a link to this page. You just may get bombarded.

I don't know if anyone mentioned this yet, but you might want to specify the teams instead of the cities because NY also has the Mets. Of course there might not be any confusion since the Mets suck — posterity maybe?

Greg — 06:58 on 10.22.04#

Mets? Who are the Mets? Are they a farm team for the Yankees?

Joe — 07:46 on 10.23.04#

Although I live in Pittsburgh, I was completely ecstatic about the Boston's obliteration of the Yankees in Game 7. I found your web site and wanted to check out the t-shirts. Unfortunately, this link doesn't have any t-shirts on it? What gives? Was CafePress hacked by some sorryass Yankees fan?

Greg — 10:09 on 10.23.04#

No, Cafepress took it down. I was unaware of their fair-use policies. Some of us were lucky enough to get a t-shirt before they closed it down though..

Joe — 10:34 on 10.23.04#

Aw shucks. Well, at least I have the wallpaper. Great game tonight. Red Sox in 4! (wishful thinking)

Where's the Andy's Future Clone Special Edition-size desktop?

Sad about Yankees loosing to Red Sox. Sadder still about the demise of West Wing. Times is hard.
