Furry.

The topic has often been discussed, mud slinging back and forth, the type of talk often over heard in a small town auto garage owned by someone named Joe. Many hours spent 'kicking the tires' and test driving different models and brands to help make a difficult decision easier (as if).

A suddenly, rather abruptly (but with sound mind and body), the choice is made.

On order, a brand new Powerbook G4 clocking in at 800 MHz, with Jaguar installed (saving this author 1-2 hours of time otherwise wasted waiting for an installation to finish) will arrive September 2, 2002.

And so the prodigal son returns.

Good for you! I wish I could go back to Macs (my boss won't allow them within 300 yards of the office)... so I'm stuck on this Dell laptop. I have an original iMac 233 sitting on the desk here, but it sees little activity or use, as everything I need to do I pretty much have to do on this damnable PC...

I'm in the same boat, I have to use a Windows XP machine at work but Storeyhaus is now a sanctuary for Macheads.

Let us now when it breaks for the first time..

I've owned six Macs in my lifetime. Not one has ever broken. By contrast, I've already burned through two PC's at work. Hmmm.

I've owned no Powerbook, and no PC laptop either, but from what I've heard Powerbooks breaks easily (especially some model which I don't remember the name of at all), and, they are supposedly a pain in the ass to fix once they're broken, too.

But that's just what I've heard.

Thomas, you should get a laptop with a wireless connection. It's the only way to use a computer!

Congratulations. You will love it. Great things to get: iView, ImageRodeo, JewelToy (dangerous time-sucker), NetNewsWire, Chimera, WeatherPop, Impasse.... and turn on Apache, PHP, MySql, etc and away you go. Stable, too!

Welcome back from the Dark Side, young Jedi. A good decision, you have made.

one of us, one of us! we accept you, we accept you!

um,... does the wife know of the purchase? you better get to the mailbox and find the visa bill before her.

Actually she encouraged this and wanted me to get a dual processor Power Macintosh but after living on a laptop for so long it's hard to let go.

So what training course did you enroll your wife in to get her to "encourage" you to spend money on a computer? I want to enroll my wife too!

Congratulations. I just replaced my dead G3 Laptop and functional G4 desktop with a G4 PowerBook. Once it's plugged into the monitor I don't even notice the difference, except it faster. Then I can unplug it and take it anywhere. The holy grail.

I wonder how long it will be before they let us have airport in Britain. And then the Mac will come.

No airports in Britain? Now I don't travel much, but you'd think the British would realize that planes are so much faster than horses.
