Europe is about to step up to the superpower plate by creating the office of President of the European Union or President de l'Union Europeenne.
In my opinion, the sooner the better. After all, competition is good.
The diplomatic problems of the last half year have mostly stemmed from smaller countries being ignored or disregarded by the leadership of the United States. Without considering who was right or wrong, diplomacy would have certainly run a different course if the Bush administration would have had to deal with the European continent as a whole, instead of being able to pick off dissenting governments one at a time.
A stronger Europe could aid as a system of checks and balances for our own decision making here in the U.S. We used to have a soundboard in the form of the Cold War alas that situation is not one I would like to see repeated although Rocky Balboa, Rambo, and James Bond desperately need new opponents for upcoming projects.
Yo.

Join the fray by reading through and commenting at the end.
James Bond vs. UU (that's "double-U"), the power-mad president of a former ally of Great Britain, whose total disregard for domestic issues, long-standing treaties, environmental concerns, or the lives of innocents as he attacks a sovereign nation so that his corporate buddies can then earn billions rebuilding the nation and stealing the precious natural resources that lie beneath that country's soil. (Let's say, diamonds, for instance.)
Nah - too implausable. Nobody in their right mind could ever suspend disbelief long enough to believe that there could be a villain like that on the planet.
"total disregard for domestic issues"
That's quite a stretch, even by the most imaginative liberal. My fellow over-taxed citizens will be most appreciate of his domestic tax cut proposal. As will the economy. That's if... his opponents won't scuttle the whole process.
And Bob, it seems apparent to me that you've bought the lie that the adminstration wants Iraq's natural resources for America. Other than trying to make Bush look evil, I've yet to see any evidence that this is the case. We will continue to buy oil and that money will now go to the country of Iraq and its people, instead of allowing Saddam to build a 6th palace.
Don't make claims w/o citing evidence. It's merely surface noise.
Yo!
ITS ... A ... JOKE.
Bob - come clean now.... you ARE Dr. Evil, admit it.
Shhh!!! You'll blow my cover! #@!*!!
