As per request from one Dan Benjamin, official Airbag desktop (or wallpapers) have been created. And I'm pretty happy with the result.

Currently available in these sizes: 800x600, 1024x768, 1280x854, 1280x960, 1280x1024, 1440x900, 1600x1200, 1680x1050, 1920x1200, and 3072x2304 (Andy's Future Clone Special Edition).
If your size is not here please let me know.

I'm pretty happy with the results as well. Thanks.
Looks rather nice. I'm using it for my linux shell at uni.
The problem with the link might be that there is no such resolution 1024x786, it is 1024x768. The resolution I use is 1280x960 and that's not in the list.
Perfect colour for a desktop! Thanks, I'm now using the 1280x1024
outstanding! great work, Greg. There's nothing more settling than an elegantly design (blue) desktop ... thanks for enhancing my work environment.
btw - I used the 1280 x 1024
A 1920x1200 version would be great.
My robot clone from the future demands a 3072x2304 version, or blood will be shed.
Andy, the clone speaks, I deliever.
What's the need to advertise via a desktop image? I enjoy the airship and clouds, but the text seems uncessesary. (I know the reason, but you don't need to advertise to me about your personal site - I already visit it.)
What's the need to copyright it? (Your airship is well known - I don't think that'll be of concern. Plus it's easy to crop out anyways. I respect your copyrights, you don't have to wave them in my face all day.)
The red A is distracting.
So I'll be cropping all of that out if I feel like using it. Hope you don't mind.
Suppose I don't need to be this critical, but I've always enjoyed designer created desktops, just not the advertising and unnecessary poop that makes me feel like their whore in maybe a juvenile manner.
Very nice imagery.
Wow, now I'm really famous ;-)
Great work Greg!
Gee, thanks Charles. Nothing like carving up another persons work to suit your needs, eh? Asshat.
If we were in a Kung Fu match I would excute a Thundering Rage Volcano Blow about now.
Thanks Greg. Desktops look wonderful.
I like it quite a bit. Works well with my desktop situation here. It's been a while since I've liked any desktop images out there.
I am a frequent visitor to your blog and always enjoy reading your thoughts and comments. I am shocked to read Charles Stuart’s comments about the desktops.
As an Intellectual Property attorney, I am always disappointed when a creator of copyrightable work encourages others to disrespect copyrights by removing copyright notices and other indicators that a work is protected. His comments are not only distracting, but are the type that encourages others to steal other artists’ works to reduce their own effort. Although he and your other regular visitors may be familiar with your work, many others will not be so familiar. The text and copyright notice on your desktops provide the information necessary to help you protect your hard work (and they are such a minor portion to begin with).
I say ignore Charles and take an active role in encouraging respect for copyrights!
How about a Charles Stuart Edition? Big-ass A and 50pt copyright?
Greg, the desktop images look great. I need a 14,547.2 x 9,444 version for my car's LCD windshield, though. Help a brotha out?
Regarding Charles, I agree with Brock. Ignore him and save the Thundering Rage Volcano Blow for someone of consequence.
WHat! No 640 x 480?
Thanks, Greg! I've been looking all over for an Airbag desktop. How cool that you, of all people, came up with one. ;-))
Outstanding work, Greg.
As for the "distracting A", it's friggin perfect.
mac widescreen size would be cool -- 1440 x 900
Jeepers. It's a desktop picture. It's going on _my_ computer. You gave it to me as a gift. It's like saying I can't take an album and make a mix tape out of it or take a sample from it for my own personal use. I'm not going to sell it to anyone - I won't be distributing it. Of course my critical comments of it probably weren't necessary. But hey, it is a public forum - which you've obviously created. The post was on topic. Others were speaking favorably of it - I spoke of it an mixed fashion. I was mildly trying to create a discussion concerning designer created desktop images, and why they always have to have so much branding on them - as if I want to be your personal billboard. I enjoy your artistic talents, not your self-created brand. And I am wrote about it because I enjoy so many of them. I'm curious as to why one feels a need to copyright everything they ever produce, as if it's not understood as such already. Just as I wouldn't keep a Nike Swoosh on my desktop, I as well don't care to have your A logo nor your copyright there as well. Your copyright is a given - but my personal fair use is a given as well. I don't know how the law goes concerning personal fair use, but I honestly don't give a poop. I hope this clears things up a bit - even if I'm still considered an asshat. I do enjoy your artistic work. I hope that came through the first time. Maybe people who get tired of branding and logos are in the minority? It all seems quite unnatural to me. Van Gogh signed his name - and that was it.
Wow, the web constantly reminds me of the incredible ingratitude of some people. Thanks for the desktop, and no thanks to Charles and his stinky attitude.
Thanks - beautiful desktop - I have to agree -the A's a bit distracting for my desktop as it falls right in with my hard drives etc on my mac desktop - but a small price to pay for a better than the rest desktop -- Charles if you wanna edit it out - go ahead - dont tell the whole world about it and knock the artist at the same time - no one gives a shit what you do on your own desktop -(or i dont anyway) - It's a gift - no need to cry about it. As far as the copyright and text -- my god, its so non assuming-and in my opinion only fair to give the artist credit -
Thanks a lot greg for your beautiful work - very nice --
It knocked my own desktop off my machine -
btw -- the A is still there -
Charles, you're complaining about the Official Airbag Desktop having too much branding, but this isn't just a pretty picture with Greg's logo plastered on it. Every element in the pic is part of Greg's brand.
You used the example of Nike, saying you wouldn't want a desktop with a Swoosh. But the airship in the clouds is Airbag's swoosh.
There should be a copyright notice on the desktop, but I'm wondering why there isn't one on the website?
One word:
Sweeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeet
Sets as default wallpaper
Cheers Greg, it looks right bonny.
I'm willing to bet real money my wife will think the the 'A' is a program shortcut though...
I forsee frenzied clicking & nashing of teeth.
Beautiful desktop, Greg. I've got it on both monitors ;)
very nice, looks l like i've found my wallpaper for a while =]
Got mine, Greg. Thanks!
This is exactly why I place copyright and domain name on desktop images. Scroll towards the bottom.
Icons, fonts, wallpaper, you name it, gets out on the net into areas that know nothing of the origin of the creative work or the owner of the intellectual property. And while it's not difficult to erase these marks, they still serve a purpose.
Greg's desktops are amazing, but this thread raises the point that there is a significant split among creators. Some respect copy"rights" and encourage everyone to treat items found online as owned by someone else (seeing the ultimate value of respecting these rights). Others, surprisingly, see the Internet as a free-for-all; shortsighted at best, particularly since many of these same people are creators themselves and would have a panick attack if they knew there was no respect for their copyrights. The fact is, if artists don't take an active role in protecting copyrights, it will be to their own demise. If I was an artist and knew that my materials could wind up on some guys website for sale - less my copyright notice - I'd want to stop them. The notice and any other pertinent information provides the limited, yet useful information to guide a user back to the source, or at least to prove that the materials are not in the public domain. In fact, that might be Greg's sole reason for placing the copyright notice on his desktops...to show that these are not in the public domain. The US Copyright office hasn't required copyright notice in many years, but notice helps prove that an artist did not intend to make his/her materials public domain.
Charles, I don't think this is personal towards you, though you seemed to take it quite personal. You brought it up, that's all. Based on your comments and my experience with other artists, I think there is a giant gap between the truth and purpose of copyright law and the average artist's understanding of it. Greg, I hope I didn't stir up to much here, but this is an area I really believe needs to be respected and understood.
Nice, calm and clean desktop, thanks.
How about a 1024x1280 for verically alligned screens?
I'm new to the site, but the design of it really impressed me right away so I'm glad to have an opportunity to look at it even when I'm not reading Airbag!
It's a little odd that the 1280x854 version is only 850 pixels high, but I just set the background color behind it to be the same color as the sky -- it's barely noticeable.
Not that the issue needs any more opinions, but to me the copyright notice adds an attractive typographical element without screwing with the design. And, of course, serves as a copyright notice. (Besides, I have my Dock aligned to the bottom-left corner, so it's hidden behind a bunch of icons anyway!)
Thanks for the desktop, and for inspiring me to consider moving my own site to Canadian domain space. Vivá Alec Baldwin!
I love it. That lovely blue color will calm my mind and body while I curse and swear at my code.
As for the copyright, I think it fills the empty space perfectly and makes the wallpaper look downright sexy. I just wish there was a little bit of grunge in there - like the stuff on the image on this site.
Nevertheless, thanks so much for your time and effort. Please disregard the comments of the senseless, wallpaper-defacing critic(s).
This is great!
Any way you could come up with a 2560x1024 so I can use it at home? I love my dual-mon setup dearly, but quality backgrounds are scarce.
Type rocks. Contributing to an environment protective of the result of labor and intellectual endeavor rocks. And, let's not kid ourselves: calling Charles an "asshat" was not a generic volley at the concept of degrading copyrights, but quite personal. It needed to be personal, though, since Charles' comment was personal. In short, it's all good.
thanks greg, my 23inch is happy
Personally, I found the wallpaper to be a refreshing change from the artistic, creative and visually attractive lot we already have too much of---we needed something inane to remind us that we are not all perfect.
